Economy

The main currency on Dawn of the Dead is 💵 Cash. Players can also barter goods in 💬 #trading or the in-game 🤝 trading chat channel.

🏦 Economy Interface

Right-click on the ground.
Click Economy.

Sell Valuables

Click Sell All to sell everything in your inventory and bags, excluding equipped items
Alternatively double click an individual item in the list to sell it

Deposit & Withdraw Cash

Enter the amount.
Click Deposit or Withdraw.

Stored money persists even if your character dies.

Send Money

Stand near the player you wish to send to
Open Economy and input the amount you wish to send
Click Send
Select the player name

This gives you a one-off reward.

Log-in to the game.
Type /link in 🤖 #saul-bot-commands and press space.
Type your in-game username precisely, press enter.
Saul replies with a 4-digit number.
Within 10 minutes, type the exact number in any chat channel to verify your account.

Follow the steps in Redeem Codes to obtain the reward.

💵 Payout

You earn 500 Money (5 Money Bundles) for every 30 minutes you are online.
Nothing expires or resets, collect every half hour, or let it build up and take it all in one go. This builds even when not linked yet.

Log-in to the game.
Type /payout in 🤖 #saul-bot-commands.
Saul shows how long you have played, what it is worth, and a button to confirm.
If your character is online and alive, click Confirm to receive the money in your character inventory.

How to redeem:

Log-in to the game.
Type /redeem in 🤖 #saul-bot-commands and press space.
Paste or type the code text and hit enter.
Saul displays the contents of the reward, if your character is online and alive click Confirm.
Stay online until you see the confirmation.

The reward appears in your character inventory.

🎉 Weekly Draw

A weekly lottery.

Entry fee taken from unclaimed payout funds.
$5,000 a ticket.

How to Enter

Type /lottery in 🤖 #saul-bot-commands and press space
Enter the number of tickets you wish to buy, maximum 10

How to Collect

Check #weekly-draw channel for winners on draw day
If your name is a winner, type /lotterycollect in 🤖 #saul-bot-commands.

🧟 Killing Zombies

Each time you kill a zombie, there is a chance of receiving a small amount of bounty cash directly to your inventory.

Special zombies you kill in dangerous zones also have a chance of dropping Money Bundle (100) in their corpse inventory. The chance depends on zone difficulty, between 50 - 99%.

💍 Selling Jewellery & Valuables

For a list of all items that can be sold, right-click on the ground and select Economy.

Extracting precious stones such as diamonds allows you to sell them separately. With an appropriate tool (e.g. pliers, small hacksaw, sheet metal snips), right-click and select Scrap Jewellery. You'll need light and a surface.

To more easily collect valuables, make use of Proximity Inventory, and either sort by Category or Mark as Unwanted items for Take All.

🤝 Trading

You can advertise goods or vehicles for sale or trade by posting in:

#trading on Discord.
Trade chat channel in-game.

🧑‍⚖️ Auction House

To list items for other players to bid on:

Press the ⊞ button above mini-map.
Click Social.
Select Auction House.

You and the successful bidder will need to meet to complete the trade.

👔 Businesses

To advertise a business offering services you can either:

Post in #businesses on Discord.
Use the in-game Business board.

Press the ⊞ button above mini-map.
Click Social.
Select Businesses.

Examples of player-run businesses include but are not limited to:

Car mechanic and emergency repairs
Rescue or zombie clearing mercenaries
Moving house hauling
Lumberjack
Builder
Doctor (First Aid)
Art gallery (Lifestyle Hobbies)

🛒 Vending Machines

A vending machine can be built to list items in-game and make sales even when offline.

It appears on the global map as a marker, which players can click to see the list of items. Players will need to visit the vending machine in person, and right-click to purchase.

The map marker colour depends on the colour of light bulb you install.

Construction

Open the vanilla Building menu and search for vend.

To build it requires Welding 3 and Electrical 1, some metal, propane and electronics.

Security

Make sure you install a Padlock to prevent theft. You may also wish to protect from zombie damage using fencing and a gate.

Maintenance

The vending machine is powered using a Battery. Once the battery runs out, players can no longer interact with the machine.
